Rapanui’s Eco Surf Wear Organic Tees

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

Who: Rapanui – Isle of Wight, UK

What: MCS Organic T-shirt

Where: Rapanui – £24.95 (approx. $37USD), in blue or charcoal

Why We Love It: We were psyched to learn about Rapanui, an eco-surf wear company founded in 2008 by brothers Rob and Martin Drake-Knight.  We love their graphic designs, like this MCS t-shirt with a collection of marine animals swimming in unison to create silhouettes of sharks; we love that 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this t-shirt is donated to the Marine Conservation Society; but most of all we applaud the brothers for their transparency and for the role models they have become in transforming the clothing industry and the way that consumers think about clothing.

spinspin_t_towelWho: spin spin handmade; Melbourne, Australia

What: Linen ‘T’ Towel

Where: Etsy – $21

Why We Love ‘Em: We are complete suckers for typography and have an inexplicable penchant for tea towels, so it was no wonder that this sweet tongue-in-cheek ‘t’ towel caught our eye.  With its collection of hand drawn rendering of ‘t’s in font types Garamond, Hoefler, Kevlar, Mrs Eaves and Caslon… Love this for a kitchen paired with the red ‘t’ towel.

We also loving having fun tea towels like this handy for last minute housewarming gifts or thank yous – simply laying the towel in a basket and filling with homemade goodies for a sweet treat. Click to continue »

The blocks come in cubes, long planks and short planks. Each is made from FSC-Certified tropical hardwoods including huesito (an abundant species native to Honduras), beech and a limited edition set made of mahogany. Click to continue »

What: Greyhound Pillow

Where: Supermarket; $79 in assorted colors; custom colors upon request; or pillow case only for $34 direct from Humble

Why: California artist Kristie Thinnes draws her inspiration from the sea and her greyhound, Nikki, who is the muse for this abstract graphic pillow. A fun touch of whimsy for the dog lover or for anyone who appreciates a good design and optical illusions.
