Eco-Essentials from Stewart + Brown {giveaway}

Monday, December 7th, 2009

stewartbrownWho: Stewart+Brown; Ventura, CA

What: Lengthen Tee & Ashton Scarf

Where: Stewart+Brown – $76 & $64 & (sign-up to The Find for 20% off through 12/31)

Why We Love It: These are two of our favorite staples from Stewart + Brown. The Lengthen Tee is absolutely dreamy with its slim fit and silky soft feel (courtesy of 100% organic pima cotton). We personally, looove a long tee – one that insures against any embarrassing ‘bare midriff‘ moments. Of course, if you prefer a little less length in your tee, the beauty of this tee is that it can be cut to suit. The hems are intentionally left raw so that you can trim the sleeves and waist line for a perfect fit. Great for layering or for pairing with the Ashton Scarf for that easy breezy Californian look. Donate Your Shoes to Soles4Souls

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

If you are like me, you have a bag full of clothes and shoes that you need to figure out how to get rid. If so check out Soles4Souls, an organization that collects and distributes shoes to people in need. Soles4Souls has partnerships with stores across the US so you can either drop your shoes off with local participating stores or you can mail your shoes to the warehouse. Either way you are helping those in need by recycling shoes destined for the curb.

Nothing Solemn About Edun’s Requiem Dress

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Who: Edun

What: ‘Requiem’ Dress in Japonica Print

Where: Edun Online, marked down to $145

Why: If you haven’t checked out the latest in organic clothing, you should. No longer is it the baggy hemp tie dyed home spun look you would find at a Phish concert, not that there is anything wrong with that………but brilliant designers are now looking to organic fabrics as a way to be socially and environmentally responsible without compromising quality, texture or style. Edun is a prime example of that.

The main driving force behind the Edun line is Ali Hewson (a.k.a. Bono’s wife) powered by her goal to empower the African community by creating a viable and sustainable and beautiful product that is at least partially manufactured in African made. She has employed the design expertise of Rogan Gregory (who did a recent cameo for an organic clothing line at Target) to create a fabulous line of eco-friendly items. The clothing is very chic melding a rocker vibe with femininity. I love the way elements of nature are incorporated into their design.  Goodbye boring flower prints, hello edgy bold prints.The result is a unique print, and a unique look. So not only will you walk around feeling great in a unique style, but you’ll also feel great for supporting indigenous people and promoting sustainable design.

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Update: September 2, 2008 -  I finally tracked down a live version of this Edun Dress at envi in black. Absolutely adorable–but beware the sleeves are a tad on the blouson side, and you might need to purchase in a size smaller than normal. Still super cute, excellent quality silk, and a great look. Definitely a dress to rock out in.

Update: April 20, 2009 – SOLD OUT almost everywhere, found one available in black (which I actually like better, but you miss the zipper detail on the back) at mr. charles for $295.
