argington_beddingWho: Argington; Brooklyn, NY

What: Butterfly Bedding Collection

Where: Argington – $210 (sign-up to The Find for 15% off bedding through 12/31)

Why We Love It: Love the sweet sophistication of Argington’s Butterfly bedding making it perfectly suitable for girls of all ages. It’s got the obligatory ‘pink’ that little girls adore but mixed with a deep purple, a rich creamy white and an intricate and brilliant design.

On one side there is a playful pattern of buds and twigs and on the other a seemingly simple design, but upon closer inspection butterflies, twigs and buds take shape as if seen through the lens of a kaleidoscope. Click to continue »

Transitioning their packaging to 100% post-consumer recycled content cardboard printed with soy-based inks complete with their signature environmental “nutritional label.”  Launching their Earthkeepers line,  a collection of  eco-friendly footwear made of  natural and sustainable materials like recycled rubber treads, biodegradable Smart wool liners, organically tanned leathers and recycled PET to name a few. Argington’s Inspired Organic Crib Bedding

Monday, May 18th, 2009

argington_butterfly_and_sticks1

Who: Argington; Brooklyn, NY

What: Butterfly, Sticks & Buds crib bedding

Where: Bobby Berk Home, $195, includes reversible comforter cover, 2 fitted crib sheets (natural) & 1 pillowcase. Also available in a boy’s (or girl’s) Dinosaur print, $195 for the set.

Why: Sweet and modern can go hand and hand as in this design from Argington. This design begs a second look – at first glance you have a delicate pattern in pink and vanilla (too creamy to be called white), but upon closer inspection a klaidescope of butterflies and twirling twigs and buds emerges. (The Dinosaur set looks like a Rorschach Test from afar, but a close-up reveals a quartet of brontosaurus.)

Ecoganik’s “Fresh Start” for Spring

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Who: eco-ganik, South El Monte, CA

What: Criss Cross Finale Dress

Where: Nimli, $273, pre-order & save 20% with code PREORDER09

Update July 6th – SOLD OUT

Why: So perhaps this dress, made of 100% woven bamboo, leans towards the risque side, a little Paris Hilton with the possible side cleavage, but this dress is just so lovely that I’ll happily throw to don its’ floaty layers of whimsical florals….. and the oh so flattering empire waist and the carefree criss cross back, which, consequently, does make the question of the bra a bit tricky……but it’s made of 100% woven bamboo, so it’s okay to go au naturel!

Speesees-Organic Clothing for the Modern Tot

Friday, September 26th, 2008

speesees_organic_onesisesWho: Speesees; San Francisco, CA

What: Onesies & Bibs

Why: With five nieces, I am constantly in search of fun kids clothes that are neither pink (although am currently losing out to their “everything must be pink phase”……), nor covered in Laura Ashley florals, nor emblazoned with princess appliqués, oh, and are not laced with chemicals. Thankfully there is Speesees!!

Speesees (“species” in baby talk-even the name is cute!) is a remarkable company both in design and eco-mindedness. They specialize in comfy cotton stylings in splashy color combinations with hip funky plant and animal prints. Perfect for the fashion forward tot! I mean, honestly, what could be cuter than a tyke toddling around in a seal pup onesie? Well, maybe, the picture of Obama hugging that adorable little boy…… Click to continue »

Lara Miller’s FLIP Line of Eco-Friendly Clothing

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Who: Lara Miller, Chicago, IL

What: ‘Brook’ Dress from the FLIP line

Where: Preorder at Nimli, and you’ll save 20% off the $198 retail price.

Why: So, apparently, convertible design is the theme this week. First it was the Mohop sandal, then the Trippe Trapp highchair and now the FLIP line of clothing by Lara Miller. Am completely fascinated by her Brook Dress which can be worn at least four different ways as demonstrated at Nimli (more later on this eco-fabulous online shopping site).  Each “flip” of the dress is so entirely different, you could definitely get away with wearing it every day of the week-I mean, that is, if you wanted to, ideal for a weekend getaway. Oh, and there are pockets, all dresses should have pockets. Lara Miller makes every effort to design her versatile clothing line with an emphasis on green. The Brook dress is made in the USA of soy and using low impact dyes.
