Balanced Design’s Organic Throw Pillows

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Who: Balanced Design; Providence RI

What: Pod Organic Cotton Throw Pillow

Where: NIMLI for $80

Why: I have had my eyes on a pair of throw pillows from Balanced Design for quite some time, but, in an attempt to curb my consumption, I had exercised restraint. But with prints reminiscent of the Mid-Century Masters, think Eames, Girard and Jacobsen, and crafted of a range of eco-friendly fabrics including organic cotton, organic linen, organic flannel, hemp and wool felt; how was a girl to resist? So now two of these lovely designs now grace my sofa and I adore them! Best of all the feather insert is super thick and malleable so molds to you needs, but with the bat of a hand regains its’ shape. Click to continue »

Eco-Friendly Wallpaper and Wallcoverings

Here are some of my favorites: Click to continue »

In2Green Recycled Cotton Blankets

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Who: in2green

What: Zebra Print Recycled cotton blanket

Where: in2green, $125

Why: Great designs, and customizable options too, if wanted to use your company logo or image of your choice. My favorite, that would be perfect in my fantasy all white sunroom, is Safari Zebra print in artichoke.

in2green is a socially and environmentally conscious company that manufactures their products in Central America and the USA in completely sweatshop free environments. The blankets are upcycled, made from recycled cotton collected from new apparel cuttings and otherwise destined for the trash. The scraps are collected and and reworked into viable yarns, farbrics, or cotton fibers. This blanket is made with 74% recycled cotton, 24% acrylic and the remaining 2% of other recycled fibers which may included organic cotton, hemp, recycled PET, soy, or bamboo fibers.  Manufactured in sweatshop free factories in the United States and a portion of the proceeds is donated to Leave No Trace.
