Why We Love It: One of our favorite design teams returned to ICFF this year with the latest from their fabulous collection of eco-friendly wallpapers. Mother and daughter team Rebecca and Yvonne Drury create designs with a nod to mid-century modern but with a fresh color palette and a touch of whimsy. We are equally in awe of the high wattage metallic gold and orange print as we are with the sweet, soft pink and grey never looked so good in the grey with white – sensing an office remodel in the works…. Amenity’s Bold Pillow Prints

Why: I just want to run my fingers through the wispy grasses draped across this pillow top. The blown up graphic with its’ eye-catching trio of colors would add a touch of understated glam to any living room, or better yet, bedroom. Based on photographs and clippings taken by Amenity founders, Nicole Chiala and Kristina de Corpo,  Amenity’s prints capture the essence of nature while reinventing them for a modern aesthetic.

Hand silkscreened in L.A. on Belgian linen with an insert made from recycled plastic bottles.

Eco-Friendly Upholstery Fabric

As my friends will attest, I am in desperate need of a good re-upholsterer for my favorite chair, a thrift store find circa 1999. Of course, reupholstering will likely be more expensive than if picking up a new chair at a discount chain, but, in keeping with a greener lifestyle, I will salvage my perfectly good antique, crafted back when things were built to last and were not disposable…… (See Story of Stuff). Per usual, I am holding out (it has been 5 months now) until I find just the right fabric from the budding eco-friendly textile market. In the meantime, I will continue to begrudgingly lounge in my more shabby than chic chair.
