The earthquake disaster that struck Haiti has been heartbreaking, but we have been inspired by all the artists, designers and crafters that have rallied in support of Haiti donating their labor, their crafts and portions of their sales to support the relief effort. Through auctions, product donations and donations of sales, they have found a way to raise money and awareness. If you have gifts to buy or if you are in the market for something for yourself, this is a great way to spend them support of Haiti as well as in support of the artist who created it.

If you would like to donate directly to the Haiti Relief effort, we suggest contacting the American Red Cross International Response Fund – there are sadly a lot of scammers out there, so this is the safest way to ensure your money goes to the right place.

1) The Craft Hope for Haiti etsy store has sold over 1,400 items already raising over $27,000 for Doctors Without Borders in Haiti to aid those in need of medical attention. Currently there are 180 products listed for sale on the site, with 100% of the proceeds donated to Doctors Without Borders. There is been such a tremendous amount of support from both buyers and crafters, that CraftHope is currently maxed out and not accepting donations at this time. If you have an item that you would like to donate to the cause, check back frequently as I suspect they will be accepting donations again soon. Shop Craft Hope for Haiti.

2) IndieFixx, the hip lifestyle and indie art and design cool, is hosting a 10-Day online silent auction auctioning off items donated by indie crafters, artists, and designers with 100 percent of the proceeds donated directly to the Red Cross International Response Fund. They’ve got an amazing collection of handcrafted goods from cozy scarves to baubles to one-of-a-kind artwork. Hurry the silent auction ends January 28th!
