Vetrazzo Kitchen Countertops Guide
Vetrazzo has been making eco-friendly countertops using reclaimed glass since 1996 and since has grown to a large US-based manufacturing company – they count Ed Begley, Jr. is one of their satisfied customers!
Vetrazzo is a sustainable alternative to natural stone countertops and vanities where instead of mining virgin, non-renewable resources they recycle materials and give them new life. It has the look of a polished granite and, in addition to countertops, can be used for tabletops, flooring, architectural details and more. 85% of the final product is composed of recycled glass. The glass is reclaimed from curbside recycling programs and uses all sorts of discarded materials to create a dynamic and colorful eco-friendly countertop material. Not to mention durable, scratch resistant, thermal resistant.
Vetrazzo Countertops are composed of a patent-pending, proprietary formula that combines recycled glass with a binder of cement, additives, pigments and other recycled materials a more eco-friendly option than most manufactured countertop materials. Most manufactured countertops on the market, such as engineered stone or “Quartz” use a synthetic, petroleum-based resin binder.
Vetrazzo, in nature, is a lot like granite. But, unlike granite, Vetrazzo is a product of the US and is regulated by US labor codes for a more eco-friendly and people-friendly product. There are no VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds) or off-gassing during production.
The Vetrazzo countertops are available in a variety of color pallettes which vary based on the types of glass that are available in a given period. Go bold icy Floating Blueor the multicolored Charisma Blue or opt for a more subtle monochromatic look with the Martini Flint or Palladian Gray – plenty of options to suit your green kitchen renovation. Can be used for both residential or commercial projects.

Vetrazzo countertops are easy to care for. Watch out for tea, coffee, red wine, lemon juice and vinegar, which should be cleaned up right away so as not to damage the surface. Clean with a mild soap and water frequently and polish with Goddard’s Marble Polish a few times a year.
