IceStone countertops are made of a combination of 100% recycled glass and concrete, which, when mixed and poured locally is an extremely eco-friendly option for your green kitchen. Concrete countertops are a far cry from standard concrete and offer surprising flexibility in both design and color. Concrete slabs can incorporate curves and built-in sinks for a seamless and unique design.

The IceStone concrete countertops recycled glass as the aggregate mixed with color pigments to achieve soft whites, rich reds, cool blues and deep purples to complement your space and design plan. There are 29 standard colors, custom colors can be requested for commercial projects. These eco-friendly countertops are then polished, honed or sandblasted to create a range of finishes from highly polished (similar to a Vetrazzo counteropt) to a a more textured finish. IceStone countertops are ideal for sunny locations because they will not fade from UV exposure.

IceStone countertops were the first countertop surface to receive the MBDC’s Cradle to Cradle Certification, one of the gold standards in the green world which indicates that the entire lifecycle of the product has been considered in determining the ecofriendliness of the product. Part of the reason this is such a highly qualified green building material is because IceStone is an American-made product, made in Brooklyn, NY; it contains no VOC’s (volatile organic compounds)and it has a large amount of recycled content and because IceStone surfaces are 100% recyclable – they may also be downcycled into tiles, landscaping material and roadbed aggregate.

Most of the recycled glass used in the aggregate is recovered from pre-consumer recycling programs outside of New York City. Since post-consumer waste recovered from recycling programs is not sorted by color it is much more labor intensive to utilize. The bottles are broken down into small pieces and mixed in with the concrete. On average 70-75% of the final product is composed of recycled content.

IceStone countertops are a great option for your green kitchen renovation. and can be used for both residential or commercial projects as backsplashes, bathroom vanities, table tops, bar tops, interior walls, shower surrounds and commercial flooring applications. It may even qualify your project for LEED certified points.

IceStone countertops have twice the strength of marble and are fabricated in much the same way as stone products.
