Bio Glass Countertops are an incredible eco-friendly countertop option for your green kitchen. They are made from 100% post-consumer recycled glass that has been fused with using binders, resins, chemicals or pigments. The glass is broken up into piecs and melted slightly to fuse stacked layers into 3/4 thick countertop slabs.

Wine bottles, stem ware, drinking cups and glass water bottles are collected to create the slabs, with an average of 400 bottles needed per slab. The appearance is completely unique, an opaque glass with almost an icy appearance – some light can shine through. The color is determined by type of glass used, so you could have more monochromatic look. The unique manufacturing technique creates a dynamic surface that changes as the light changes. Some opt to have their Bio Glass countertops lit from below to enhance the play of light on the surface.

It is an incredibly durable product that is scratch and stain resistant. In addition to countertops, Bio Glass can be used for worktops, walls, backsplashes even interior flooring.

Another green aspect of the Bio Glass Countertops, is that they are 100% recyclable, so instead of filling up landfills at the end of their useful lifecycle they can be recycled anew.Bio Glass is an incredibly eco-friendly countertop product that is MBDC Cradle to Cradle Certified (Silver), NSF and Greenspec Certified. Use of Bio Glass countertops in your green building project may help you qualify for LEED credits with USGBC project certification.
