Why We Love ‘Em: This cool and innovative design is a refreshing take on the classic ballet flat. Designer Colin Lin of All Black has a knack for taking everyday materials and reworking them in unexpected ways, in this case the material is newspaper.
The flats are made with only three and half pages of Chinese newspapers which is what gives the shoes their unique color and makes each a one-of-a-kind. Strips of newspaper are folded and then dipped into a plastic resin for weatherproofing. The strips are then handwoven by cottage industry artists (read: not mad in a factory). The soft sole adds comfort for the woman on the go. A great city shoe and great alternative to standard neutral shoes. Even without words, these flats are sure to be a conversation starter.
