Chair Upholstery 101 V.6 – So Close
Written by Urban Sherp on June 26th, 2010Second to last class in the Eliot School’s Upholstery class. There is an end in site but still a lot of details to take care of before the project is complete. The second to last class was hugely successful, tacked in the sides, welted along the back, got the metal pli stapled in, cut, centered and tacked in fabric for the back…. still much more to go and the clock is ticking. Only one more class left and I’ve got a cushion and a whole lot of double welting to do…

Serisouly – that is how I feel having just come across your site!
I just scored a gig writing for the Flor blog (www.flor.com/blog – under Miriam) and one of my upcoming scheduled posts (I think for the week of 8/23) is all about reupholstered furniture and how absolutely lovely and inspiring and awesome it is. I even had notions of writing some posts on how to get a chair reupholstered, since it seems so out of reach to me…and then I came across your post…out of the blue…when (clearly) unrelatedly I was searching for a coupon code for Lunchskins!
RANDOM!!!!
Ok…just needed to let you know that you have totally inspired me to take a class and do this. Even better…I live in Roslindale; so I don’t even have to ‘cross the river’!
Thanks for letting me ramble…and SO excited to see your final product!!

So glad to here that I inspired you to get into upholstery. I really loved it and was in no way prepared for the amount of work that was involved, but it was a completely rewarding experience and a skill that I am thrilled to have in my ‘toolbox’. Best of luck!! Keep US posted how your project turns out!
