mod_green_pod_ecofriendly_wallpaperWho: Mod Green Pod – Austin, TX

What: ‘Delight’ Wallpaper

Where: Mod Green Pod – $75/roll

Why We Love ‘Em: Very exciting news – just heard from the gals at Mod Green Pod that they’ve added a new print to their collection of chic eco-friendly wallpapers, and ‘Delight’ may just be our new favorite. Love the colors and the mod/art nouveau graphics of this print. Now just need to convince the husband that this is just the look for the master bedroom… mmm, teal and grey! Click to continue »

Argington’s Modern Organic Bedding {giveaway}

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

argington_beddingWho: Argington; Brooklyn, NY

What: Butterfly Bedding Collection

Where: Argington – $210 (sign-up to The Find for 15% off bedding through 12/31)

Why We Love It: Love the sweet sophistication of Argington’s Butterfly bedding making it perfectly suitable for girls of all ages. It’s got the obligatory ‘pink’ that little girls adore but mixed with a deep purple, a rich creamy white and an intricate and brilliant design.

On one side there is a playful pattern of buds and twigs and on the other a seemingly simple design, but upon closer inspection butterflies, twigs and buds take shape as if seen through the lens of a kaleidoscope. Click to continue »

Nouveau Organic Floral Bedding from Pottery Barn

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

pottery barn teen Who: Pottery Barn; HQ San Francisco, CA

What: Nouveau Organic Floral Duvet Cover & Sham

Where: PB Teen – $32.00 – $119.00

Why: Pottery Barn has slowly been adding more organics to their bedding collections and this one from PB Teen is definitely one of our favorites. Love the understated, unfussy black and white  and lavender floral pattern lending a much more modern and grown-up feel to a little girl’s room, (if only Jason from Design Star had used this as his inspiration for Paulina’s Room……). The pattern on the cover is neutral enough that Click to continue »

Amenity’s Modern Organic Fabric by the Yard

Friday, September 4th, 2009

Who: Amenity; Los Angeles, CA

What: River Organic Cotton & Hemp Fabric

Where: amenityhome.com $65/yard

Why: So, yes, we have a bit of a crush on everything Amenity. We love the color palettes, we love the feel of the organic fabric and the way designers Nicole Chiala and Kristina de Corpo infuse take inspiration from the natural world and put their own spin on it. So it is no surprise that we were thrilled to learn that they are now selling their fabrics – drumroll please – to the general public!! Click to continue »

Angela Adam’s “Spike” Wool Rug

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

angela_adams_spike_pool_wool_rugWho: Angela Adams;  ME

What: Spike/Pool Wool Rug

Where: Velocity; Now on sale for 20% off,  from $251-$1259

Why We Love ‘Em: This is one of our favorite Angela Adams design. It is classic “Angela Adams”  – reinventing patterns found in nature with a modern flair mixing rich colors and textures to create a true one of a kind.  The color palette on this hand tufted 100% wool rug is just gorgeous – the cool pool blues, the deep espresso brown, the dark pine with the pop of citron green and soft ripples of white…. stunning. Amenity’s Organic Fabric by the Yard

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

amenity_river_organic_fabricWho: Amenity; Los Angeles, CA

What: River Organic Cotton + Hemp fabric

Where: Amenity; $65/yard

Why: Psyched to find out that Amenity is selling their organic fabrics to the public, not just to trade. So many of the really cool organic fabrics (you know, ones that don’t look like burlap) tend to only be available to the trade. So that means that in order to purchase 2 yards of fabric for your DIY project you would have to hire a designer which would likely end up costing your more than the fabric itself. Always nice to skip the middle man. Click to continue »

Madison & Grow’s Eco-Friendly Wallpaper

Monday, May 25th, 2009

elizabeth_moonbeam-on-creamWho: Madison & Grow; Los Angeles, CA

What: Elizabeth Moonbeam on Cream Wallpaper

Where: Feel More Human, two 27″x 15′ rolls for $300. Note, we did see these on sale for 40% off at EcoHaus in-store, but not online-may be worth a call…

Why: Because you are tired of plain white walls, because you seek a little more pizazz and because wallpaper is finally cool again (and in this case eco-friendly).

The Elizabeth print is so visually intriguing, I am completely spellbound by this wallpaper. Up close the pattern is very organic, like scales or scattered petals, but as you step back,  the geometric pattern emerges and yet does not over power the room. For those seeking to amp up the drama, try this print in the hot pink and dark grey combination.

Argington’s Inspired Organic Crib Bedding

Monday, May 18th, 2009

argington_butterfly_and_sticks1

Who: Argington; Brooklyn, NY

What: Butterfly, Sticks & Buds crib bedding

Where: Bobby Berk Home, $195, includes reversible comforter cover, 2 fitted crib sheets (natural) & 1 pillowcase. Also available in a boy’s (or girl’s) Dinosaur print, $195 for the set.

Why: Sweet and modern can go hand and hand as in this design from Argington. This design begs a second look – at first glance you have a delicate pattern in pink and vanilla (too creamy to be called white), but upon closer inspection a klaidescope of butterflies and twirling twigs and buds emerges. (The Dinosaur set looks like a Rorschach Test from afar, but a close-up reveals a quartet of brontosaurus.)

Plight of the Polar Bear in Blue

Monday, April 20th, 2009

Who: Designed by NEL, Manufactured in Spain by nani marquina

What: Global Warming Rug, 100% Wool

Where: The Conran Shop USA 59″X79″ – $1,550; In Your Element 79″ x 118″ – $2,690

Why: Quite the conversation piece if you are into political discussions about the plight of the planet and want to debate whether global warming is a hoax.  (On a side note, I just stumbled upon a forum claiming that photographs of polar bears on shrinking ice bergs is just manipulated liberal propaganda….boiling, boiling… I wonder what they would have to say about this rug…but I digress) Upon first glance you might overlook the fragile polar bear adrift upon his shrinking ice flow, but you cannot miss the message. Eco-Friendly Upholstery Fabric

Monday, October 6th, 2008

As my friends will attest, I am in desperate need of a good re-upholsterer for my favorite chair, a thrift store find circa 1999. Of course, reupholstering will likely be more expensive than if picking up a new chair at a discount chain, but, in keeping with a greener lifestyle, I will salvage my perfectly good antique, crafted back when things were built to last and were not disposable…… (See Story of Stuff). Per usual, I am holding out (it has been 5 months now) until I find just the right fabric from the budding eco-friendly textile market. In the meantime, I will continue to begrudgingly lounge in my more shabby than chic chair.

Here are the contenders thus far: Click to continue »
