A Few Winter Projects

To stave off cabin fever and general winter blahs, I’ve decided to tackle some projects that I have been putting off for way too long…

1) Our entry hall is basically our basement, garage and coat closet all in one (we live in a city and only dream of having all three of those things!), so space is at an absolute premium and right now that space is an absolute disaster. I discovered these slick shoe organizers by J-Me designs at emmo.com, but wasn’t quite ready to shell out $150 for a shoe rack, even if it was incredibly cool… So I did a little browsing and found that I wasn’t the only one pondering this dilemma – notmartha designed a clever DIY version based on the J-Me design.  Even better than the J-Me you can customize to fit your space.

2) Another project I found a quick solution to online, was how to maximize the space in our teeny tiny bathroom (I checked building codes and our bathroom is the teeniest tiniest of what’s legally possible). We’ve got the under the sink cabinet crammed with junk that is completely inaccessible but found this solution to the problem on Better Homes and Gardens. I am sure anyone who has been to the Container Store has already discovered this little gem, but have never seen ‘two-story’ pull out racks. So simple it’s genius. Now just need to figure out how to make them or where to buy them…. any ideas?

3) And this one is just for fun since i love all things nautical and love a project I can finish in one sitting…. from design*sponge – the DIY knot trivet.
